Girls soccer: Johnson, Lakeview get road wins

GAINESVILLE, Ga. — The Johnson girls moved into second place in Region 6-3A with a tough 3-1 win over North Hall on Tuesday at The Brickyard.

The Lady Knights (5-3, 3-1 Region 6-3A) fell behind 1-0 in the first half off a breakaway goal from North Hall (3-3, 1-3 Region 6-3A) but they would begin the rally back.

Bridget Higgins scored off a cross from Keily Gonzalez to tie the game by halftime.

Johnson took the lead 15 minutes into the second half when Gissel Garcia found the back of the net off an assist from Angelique Zelaya. Garcia scored again later in the half off a deflection.

Johnson is off until next Tuesday, playing host to Dawson County in a huge region showdown..

The Lady Lions scored five second half goals to pull away for a win on the road on Tuesday.

Sadie Leek scored a hat trick to lead the way but it was a close match for a half.

Leek scored on a breakaway midway through the first half and Tallulah Falls scored a goal off a corner kick to send the game to the half tied at 1.

But Reece Syfan scored within 30 seconds of the second half to get things going for Lakeview, who took control from there. Leek scored twice more and Mackay Vinton and Addi Graham each scored a goal for the Lions.
