A man who police say took a then-12-year-old Gainesville girl from her home for indecent purposes was sentenced in Ohio court this week.

Tuscarawas County, Ohio court records show Antonio Agustin-Ailon, age 34 of Guatemala, entered a guilty plea on March 10 to a list of charges including rape and pandering. He was sentenced on Monday, March 17, to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 15 years served.

Agustin-Ailon is also facing charges in Hall County for the May 29 disappearance of the girl who went missing from a home on Westside Drive. She was missing for two months before authorities found her living with Agustin-Ailon in Dover, Ohio. Agustin-Ailon had reportedly driven to Gainesville, picked up the girl and then drove her back to Ohio after the two had been communicating on social media.

Hall County District Attorney Lee Darragh issued a statement Tuesday saying he will consult both Hall County Sheriff Gerald Couch and the family of the girl before determining when to extradite Agustin-Ailon back to Hall County to face trial on the local charges.

According to court records, Agustin-Ailon had initially attempted to plea not guilty by reason of insanity in September of 2024. That plea was refused after an evaluation by court officials determined he was fit to stand trial in December.
