A Buford teen that has been missing since February of last year has been located and is safe.

Asta Amun was previously seen leaving her residence on Feb. 1 of 2024.

The day before, she was reportedly disciplined by school administrators, which detectives believe brought her to leave the house.

Now, Amun has been found in the custody of the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services (TDCS) under an alias.

A breakthrough occurred when a TDCS case manager identified inconsistencies in Amun’s statements, prompting further research on missing children in Georgia.

That’s when the Gwinnett County Police Department (GCPD) was contacted.

Arrangements have been made to transfer Amun to the Georgia Department of Family and Children's Services and the investigation into her disappearance remains active.
