North Hall, Lumpkin County, and Dawson County will all try to stay atop the Region 6-3A standings as part of a big day on the diamond for northeast Georgia area teams.
And Regions 8-3A and 8-4A will open their region schedules on Tuesday to also highlight the day's action. In all, 15 area teams are involved in 10 total games as several area teams will take on each other to open the series.
The biggest showdown in Class 3A on Monday will take place at Lynn Cottrell Field when the Trojans, ranked fourth in the latest Coaches Box poll, take on second-ranked Pickens. Both teams are coming off opening series sweeps last week. North Hall (7-3, 3-0 Region 6-3A) has won four straight, while Pickens (11-1, 3-0 Region 6-3A) is working on a six-game win streak.
Meanwhile, Lumpkin County (9-2, 3-0 Region 6-3A) is ranked 10th and plays host to GAC (3-6, 0-3 Region 6-3A) and White County (5-6, 0-3 Region 6-3A) travels to Dawson County (8-4, 3-0 Region 6-3A) in other key region games.
In Region 8-3A, Cherokee Bluff (4-8, 0-0 Region 8-3A) opens a series on the road against Monroe Area (4-8, 0-0 Region 8-3A), looking to snap a three-game losing streak and shake a tough non-region schedule. East Hall (6-6, 0-0 Region 8-3A) already has doubled its win total from all of last season but faces a tough start to the region, traveling to fifth-ranked Oconee County (9-3, 0-0 Region 8-3A) to open a series. Jefferson (4-8, 0-0 Region 8-3A) and West Hall (4-8, 0-0 Region 8-3A) will begin a series in Oakwood.
Flowery Branch (5-5, 0-0 Region 8-4A) travels to East Forsyth (9-4, 0-0 Region 8-4A) in a huge series for both teams to get things started in Region 8-4A.
