Thumbs Up Mission held its 9th annual "Dressed to Kill Cancer" fashion show on Thursday in memory of North Hall and Flowery Branch High School student Keaton Coker who lost his battle to brain cancer in 2014.
Over 350 people gathered to hear from 6 “Warrior Models” from around Hall County who shared their stories of battling cancer or have been on the frontlines loving someone through the battle while being outfitted by local boutiques.
The 6 Warriors who were highlighted at this event were:
- John Baxter
- Sarah Elizabeth Cain
- Carly and Charlotte Ezelle
- Sandi Griffin
- Lauren and Rainey Justus
- Vance Mercer
Thumbs Up Mission also hosts weekend retreats for families and hope that by hosting the "Dressed to Kill Cancer" events they can raise enough money through fundraising to serve more families than the each previous year.
The cost is roughly $200,000 dollars for 85 families battling cancer, 45 host families volunteering plus a slew of college and high school kids volunteering.
The average cost for a family to attend a retreat is $2,500 Dollars that will cover the food, lodging and waterpark passes for a weekend.
