Two people were seriously injured in a crash on Interstate 985 in southern Hall County Wednesday afternoon.
Hall County Sheriff's Office officials said the wreck happened at around 2:00 p.m. on the northbound side of the interstate near the Exit 17 overpass at Atlanta Highway near Oakwood.
"At the time, traffic was congested, and a driver failed to brake for slowing traffic, striking the back of two vehicles, which in turn, struck two vehicles in front of them," a statement from the sheriff's office said.
A man and woman in one of the vehicles involved were seriously hurt and were taken from the scene to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville for treatment. As of Thursday morning's report from the sheriff's office, both remained hospitalized.
The crash left the northbound side of I-985 shut down in the area for over an hour and a half Wednesday.
