The Gwinnett County Police Department on Thursday released information on a carjacking and chase in February that resulted in the arrest of two juveniles in Duluth.
On February 12, West Precinct officers responded to a report of an armed carjacking in the area. Utilizing FLOCK cameras, the officers quickly located the stolen vehicle on Ingram Road near Pond Road.
When the officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the suspects took off at a high rate of speed, resulting in a brief pursuit. The chase ended when the driver of the stolen vehicle lost control and crashed into a residential fence. Both occupants in the vehicle fled on foot but were swiftly apprehended.
They faced multiple charges, including aggravated assault, hijacking a motor vehicle, armed robbery, theft by receiving, obstruction, fleeing or attempting to elude police, criminal damage to property, failure to maintain lane, driving without a license, and speeding.
The two juveniles were taken into custody without incident and taken to a youth detention center on February 12.
