The Hall County Sheriff’s Office has issued a statement regarding the suspicious person who reportedly attempted to enroll at West Hall High School.
Hall County Schools Spokesman Stan Lewis said in a release Tuesday the individual who visited the school matched the description of a person who had previously attempted to enroll in a Gwinnett County School. Gwinnett officials had warned parents of the person allegedly targeting students online to meet him at various locations in the area.
HCSO officials said deputies made contact with the suspect, Dongha Lee, 18, of South Korea, at a residence in the 6000 block of Laurel Wood Trail in Flowery Branch Tuesday night. Lee reportedly had called 911 to report alleged threats he had received related to news coverage of his visit to the high school in Gwinnett County.
The deputies that responded were aware of Lee’s presence at West Hall High School earlier in the day.
As a result of the incident at WHHS, deputies issued a criminal trespass warning to Lee, barring him from visiting any Hall County School properties. He was not arrested.
Agents with Homeland Security Investigations confirmed that Lee is in the United States on a 90-day tourist visa, which is valid through May, according to HCSO Officials.
