A Stone Mountain man has been arrested nearly two months after police say he stole a man's wallet in Oakwood.

Oakwood Police Department officials said the victim in the case lost his wallet while shopping at the Walmart on Mundy Mill Road in Oakwood on the evening of January 17. That's when police say Ellis Bradford McCoy, age 39, found the wallet and did not attempt to return it.

"He immediately went to the Race Trac Gas Station in Oakwood," Oakwood Police Lieutenant Stewart Webb said. "He used the victims' credit card to purchase gas and various other items from the store."

Police were eventually able to identify McCoy as the suspect, leading to his arrest. He remained in the Hall County Jail as of Tuesday morning on over $12,000 bond, facing charges of financial transaction card theft and fraud, as well as theft of lost or mislaid property.
