A sewage spill in Cumming on Monday left thousands of gallons of sewage in a local creek.

A report issued by Cumming Utilities said the spill happened near the Village at Castleberry subdivision on the southwest side of the city. The spill was reportedly caused by a manhole being partially blocked by PVC pipe, rocks, grease and flushable wipes.

Just over 4,000 gallons of sewage spilled into nearby Orr Creek, which was finally resolved by the clog being jetted, allowing the flow to return to normal.

No details were released on the impact to the creek and surrounding area.
