Ghost gun, drugs found after two-month investigation in Gilmer County

A man was arrested on Feb. 26 after a search of his home on Quarles Lane in Gilmer County.

The Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office said James Calvin Sluder, Jr., 48, was found in possession of nearly 5.6 ounces of methamphetamine, 1.8 pounds of marijuana and a fully-automatic AR-15-style rifle equipped with a sound suppressor.

Sluder has been charged with felon in possession of a firearm, four counts of trafficking in methamphetamine, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and two counts of possession of illegal firearm/parts.

The warrant was executed alongside the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office and Federal Bureau of Investigation Safe Streets Task Force.
