A Hiawassee man was arrested on drug possession charges following a traffic stop in Towns County Thursday.
The Towns County Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post investigators initiated a traffic stop on Hwy 26 West, where a free air sniff was alerted by a K-9, resulting in probable cause to search the vehicle.
During the search, authorities allegedly found a plastic bag with a white substance which field tested positive for methamphetamine.
Ricky Dexter Shelton, 63, was arrested and charged with felony possession of methamphetamine, failure to maintain lane and probation violation in the case.
