Lieutenant Steven R. Bannister has been named the Assistant Chief of Police for the City of Jefferson, effective immediately.
A city press release said Bannister has served the community since 1989 and brings years of experience to the role.
Bannister has worked his way up from Patrol Officer to Lieutenant, and now Assistant Chief.
“His connection to the community and understanding of its ever-changing needs comes from not only his extensive professional experience, but also from being a long-time resident of Jefferson,” the release read.
He has been married to his wife Kimberly for 27 years and is a devoted father to his daughter, Peyton.
Bannister has been an active member of the Jefferson Church for 28 years.
