What's Happening This Weekend: Valentine's Day edition

Love is in the air with Valentine's Day today and celebrations likely to continue throughout the weekend.

Whether or not you're celebrating Valentine's Day, there's plenty to do around Northeast Georgia. Here is this weekend's list of events:

Event Name: Valentine’s Day Sunset and Moonlight Hike, Winder
Event Date & Time: Friday, February 14, 6 – 7 p.m.
Event Location: Fort Yargo State Park, 210 South Broad St., Winder  
Event Details: Come join us on the bridge to view the sunset over the lake, then we'll hike out to the rocky point under a moonlit sky. We'll finish at the lakeside fire ring near the Visitor Center, where we'll enjoy hot cocoa & s'mores by the fire. In case of rain, we'll gather at the Interpretive Center & enjoy our treats indoors. There's a fire ring there, too!

Event Name: Fasching (German Mardi Gras), Helen
Event Date & Time: Saturday, February 15, 6 – 11 p.m.
Event Location: Helen Festhalle , 1074 Edelweiss Strasse, Helen
Event Details: Come celebrate German Mardis Gras with music, dancing and fun!  Decorate a table with your friends in your favorite theme.  Or just wear your favorite costume.  Anything goes! Costumes are encouraged but not required-just come for the fun! We will be serving bratwurst with kraut, hot dogs, barbecue and more.  We will also have pretzels, and a cash bar (beer and wine) will be available. Event Name: Winterfest Festival, Helen
Event Date & Time: Saturday, February 15 – Sunday, February 16
Event Location: Helen Arts and Heritage Center, 25 Chattahoochee Strasse, Helen  
Event Details: Spend the weekend enjoying WinterFest, two days of fine art, craft and local history at four outstanding venues.
