The White County Narcotics Investigations and Crime Suppression Unit arrested a father and son Tuesday in relation to selling methamphetamine in the area.
Investigators were able to determine Danny Shane Helton, 33, of Cleveland, had an outstanding warrant out of Habersham County and that he lived at an address on Blue Water Dr.
The Unit responded to his residence on Feb. 4 to serve the outstanding warrant. When they arrived, authorities obtained probable cause to obtain a search warrant for the address.
During the execution of the search warrant, investigators reportedly discovered 517 grams of marijuana, 15 grams of methamphetamine, two hydrocodone pills, three firearms, digital scales and other drug related objects.
During the investigation, Danny Shane Helton was found to be a convicted felon, along with Danny Lee Helton, 65, who is Danny Shane Helton’s father.
Both suspects were arrested. Both men face the following charges:
- Possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute
- Possession of marijuana with intent to distribute
- Possession of schedule II drug
- Possession of marijuana greater than 1 oz.
- Three Counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
- Possession of firearm during the commission of a crime
- Possession of drug related objects
