A man was arrested on charges of sexual battery in Gwinnett County after he allegedly groped a woman at a supermarket in December.
The Gwinnett County Police department said a female victim was shopping at a supermarket when a male approached her, began complimenting her and then groped her and fled the scene.
The victim reported the incident to the police department.
GCPD Cpl. Juan Madiedo said there was no break in the case until Jan.31, when officials with Oconee County Sheriff’s Office told the department they took out similar charges on a suspect for a similar circumstance.
Gwinnett officers were then able to discover that the suspect, Jordan Jamal Vernon, worked at a location at the Mall of Georgia. Officers then went to that location, where they spotted the subject, who fled on foot.
Authorities were able to spot Vernon as he fled out the back door at the site, which resulted in a short chase on foot. Officers then apprehended him and used security footage from the December incident to identify him as the suspect in the case.
He remains in the Gwinnett County Detention Center as of last report.
