A barn was left destroyed after a Monday afternoon fire in Commerce.
Banks County Fire and Emergency Services said their units responded at around 5:07 p.m. to reports of a structure fire at 181 Reuben Lord Road.
Units found the barn completely engulfed in flames. They checked the exposures to a nearby home, and the fire was stopped from reaching the house.
A small woods fire was put out, along with the barn fire, which resulted in the building being declared a total loss.
“The occupant was at home at the time of the Fire and was treated by EMS personnel and released on the scene,” a press release from BCFEMS.
The cause of the fire is under investigation but a nearby burn pile could not be ruled out as the cause. The fire appears to be accidental in nature.
The fire was extinguished by 5:23 p.m.
