365 wreck kills two teens

Officials with Georgia State Patrol confirmed Tanner Collins, 16, of Winder, died after being transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville.

A two-vehicle crash on Ga. 365 Saturday morning killed at least one person.

The Georgia State Patrol said a 2009 Mercedes E320 was traveling north on SR 365  near Whitehall Rd. in Hall County at a high speed in the left lane at around 11:30 a.m. The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, which rotated and struck a 2020 Kia Sportage in the right lane. 

Upon impact, the Kia Sportage ran off the roadway and came to an uncontrollable stop. The Mercedes also went off the roadway and struck several trees, according to GSP. 

 The driver of the Mercedes, Dinu Dairy, 17, of Winder, succumbed to his injuries. The passenger, Tanner Collins, 16, of Winder, was taken to Northeast GA Medical Center in Gainesville with serious injuries. GSP did not have an update on her condition as of the last report. 

GSP also did not report any injuries for the driver of the Kia, Dana Wilson, 48, of Demorest.  

The accident remains under investigation with assistance from the  Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team.
