A tour bus wreck in Barrow County Saturday morning was due to a driver’s medical emergency.
That’s according to the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), who said that at around 10:30 a.m., troopers were dispatched to Interstate 85 North at mile-marker 125 in Barrow County.
A brown Prevost H3 tour bus was traveling northbound in the middle lane before failing to maintain its lane, and reportedly overturned into a ditch.
The driver of the tour bus experienced a medical emergency, causing him to go off the roadway according to officials.
During the investigation, another crash occurred. A Toyota Camry hit a Jeep Cherokee in the rear. The Jeep broke down in the right lane, reducing the interstate to one lane.
Three of the 16 occupants of the tour bus had non-life-threatening injuries, and no injuries were reported in the secondary crash.
65-year-old Johnny Marrufo from Oxnard, California was the driver and was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville.
The two passengers injured were both named Victor Rodriguez, one a 28-year-old from Turlock, California and the other a 49-year-old from Chula Vista, California. They were both taken to NGMC Braselton.
