Police in Gwinnett County have arrested a suspect behind a fatal shooting Tuesday evening in Duluth.
Detectives are charging 54-year old Johnny Mays Blackshear, Junior with malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during commission of crimes for the shooting death of the vicitm, now identified as 26-year old Jordan Calloway of Duluth.
Police say Blackshear is Calloway's stepfather. Investigators say in a Wednesday morning release that they coordinated the arrest with Walton County Sheriff's Office which conducted a traffic stop on Blackshear's vehicle, where he was taken into custody without incident.
The Gwinnett County Police Department said in a Facebook post officers were called to the area of Venture Pkwy. and Market St. at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 28, 2025. Once authorities arrived on the scene, officers discovered one adult male with a gunshot wound.
Officers reportedly tried to render aid to the victim, who was transported to an area hospital where he later died.

A domestic-related incident has left one man dead in unincorporated Duluth from Tuesday night.
The Gwinnett County Police Department said in a Facebook post officers were called to the area of Venture Pkwy. and Market St. at 7:30 p.m. Once authorities arrived on the scene, officers discovered one adult male with a gunshot wound.
Officers reportedly tried to render aid to the victim, who was transported to an area hospital where he later died.
Preliminary investigations indicate the shooting was a domestic incident between the victim and a known individual.
The case remains under investigation as of last report.
