BUFORD, Ga. — Lydia Ledford scored 25 points to lead the 10th-ranked Buford girls basketball team past Central Gwinnett, 66-51, Monday night at the Buford Arena.
With the game tied at 27 going into the third quarter, the Lady Wolves (18-2, 8-1 Region 8-6A), led by E'Miah Fields, blew open the game in the period, outscoring the Lady Knights 26-10 to take a 53-37 lead. Fields scored 12 of her 18 points in the quarter.
Buford connected for seven 3-pointers and was 10-of-18 from the foul line. Fields led the way from the charity stripe with a 3-of-4 night.
Nalani Gainey led the Lady Knights with 26 points.
Buford will host Mill Creek on Wednesday in a crucial Region 8-6A matchup. The Lady Wolves lost the first meeting, 60-51, on the road. Mill Creek currently is 7-2 in region play, one game behind Buford for the region lead.

The Lady Wildcats could not hold an early lead in a loss to the Class A D1 second-ranked Lady Blue Devils on the road.
Rabun County (10-9, 2-6 Region 8-A D1) jumped out to a 15-10 lead after the first quarter but Elbert County (19-1, 8-1 Region 8-A D1) used a 9-0 run late in the second to take a 29-22 lead at the half. Rabun County cut into the lead to trail 37-33 heading into the fourth quarter but the Lady Wildcats could not complete the comeback.
Addy Beth Owens led Rabun County with 13 points and 6 rebounds. Jacie McCall and Madison Houck each had 9 and combined for 16 rebounds. Adelyn Thompson had 6 points, 4 steals, 4 assists for the Lady Wildcats.
