A Gainesville man  was charged with aggravated assault under the Family Violence Act after he allegedly intentionally struck a woman with his vehicle.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office responded to the domestic violence incident on Roy Cagle Road Tuesday just after 5 p.m.

An initial investigation revealed Tony Jeffery Hatcher, 32, of Gainesville, had driven to the victim’s residence after an argument over the phone escalated. The victim was standing outside of the residence when Hatcher arrived. Hatcher then reportedly swerved his vehicle towards the victim, striking her before leaving the scene.

A release from the department said the victim suffered severe injuries to her right ankle and abrasions on her forearms and hands as well as a laceration to her lip from the vehicle.

Additionally, Hatcher was charged with reckless driving, driving on the wrong side of the roadway, failure to maintain lane and hit and run.

He turned himself into authorities Wednesday and remains in the Hall County Jail without bond as of last report.
