Five Lee Arrendale State Prison inmates facing riot charges

Five women are facing charges indicating a riot at a prison in Alto.

The five women were booked into the Habersham County Detention Center on Friday. No details on the incident have been released, but each of the women have been charged with riot in a penal institution and violation of the Georgia Street Gang and Terrorism Prevention Act.

Four of the five women are confirmed to have been inmates at Lee Arrendale State Prison in Alto, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections. The fifth woman, Kareasha Tynekia Washington, does not have listed info on the department's website.

The Georgia Department of Corrections has not responded to inquiries about the incident as of early Saturday afternoon.
