Gainesville police have made an arrest related to a shooting last weekend that left one teenager dead and another injured.
Roberto Acevedo, age 17, was arrested Wednesday on charges including involuntary manslaughter, which Gainesville Police Lt. Kevin Holbrook said is related to the January 4 incident that happened on Hillcrest Avenue in the city.
Officials found Aristeo Ramirez, age 17, dead inside a crashed vehicle near the roadway around 8:00 p.m. that night, with another teen who reportedly fled the scene on foot later being found with a gunshot wound to the foot and taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville for treatment.
Few details have been released regarding the incident, but Holbrook said it is believed that Ramirez, Acevedo and the other teen were involved in some illegal activity that ultimately led to the shooting.
Holbrook said anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact the Gainesville Police Department by phone or on the city's website.
Acevedo is being held in the Hall County Jail without bond.
