The choral students with Cherokee Bluff Middle School in Hall County will be performing at a prestigous event later this month where only a few at their level are invited to participate.
Cherokee Bluff Middle School 's 7th and 8th Grade Chorus has been selected to perform at the 2025 Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA) In-Service Conference. The performance will take place on Friday, January 31, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. at Athens First Baptist Church in Athens, Georgia. Prior to this event, Cherokee Bluff Middle School Chorus will present a special local concert in collaboration with Mill Creek High School on Monday, January 27, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. at Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church.
The achievement marks the first time in over thirty years that a group from Hall County or Gainesville City Schools has been invited to perform at this prestigious event. A press release from Hall County School System officials also noted that the Cherokee Bluff Middle School Chorus is the first choral program from the entire Northeast Georgia area—encompassing more than 65 schools—to receive this honor. Additionally, they are one of only four middle school choruses in the state of Georgia to be selected for the opportunity.
The students will perform a program entitled Hope for Humanity: Building a Better Future, under the leadership of Choral Director Emily Allison. Mrs. Allison, a graduate of Piedmont College with both a Bachelor of Arts in Vocal Performance and a Master of Arts in Music Education, was recently named the 2024-2025 Teacher of the Year for Cherokee Bluff Middle School.
The Cherokee Bluff 7th and 8th Grade Chorus is a non-auditioned ensemble that brings together students daily to share their passion for fine arts. Embracing their motto, "Together in Music," the singers foster a culture of acceptance, empathy, and collective growth. More details about the chorus can be found at https://www.cbluffchorus.com/
