Update posted Jan. 15 at 8:30 p.m.:
The Georgia State Patrol said the wreck occurred just before 2:40 p.m. on Old Cornelia Highway at Shady Valley Road.
Responding troopers learned that the bus driven by Curtis Allen Sloan, 71, of Oakwood, was traveling east behind a Ford Bronco driven by Shirley Boyle, 75, of Homer.
GSP said Boyle slowed down to stop for another school bus offloading children that was traveling west on Old Cornelia Highway.
Sloan was allegedly following too closely and could not slow down to avoid a collision.
“As a result, the front bumper of the school bus struck the rear of the Ford Bronco,” GSP said in an email to AccessWDUN.
Boyle was taken to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. No one on the bus was injured.
Sloan was issued a citation for following too closely.
