Gwinnett Police perform PIT maneuver on wrong way driver

A Gwinnett County Police Officer performed a PIT maneuver to stop a wrong way driver in Buford Sunday morning. 

A release from the department said the officer was on patrol on Nelson Brogdon Blvd. and Peachtree Industrial Blvd. when he noticed the driver traveling on the wrong side of the road at 2:45 a.m. The driver, Yuris Garcia Galvez , 27, of Gainesville, reportedly made a U-turn in front of the officer and continued to travel on the wrong side of the road. 

The officer then performed a PIT maneuver to prevent potential collisions with other vehicles. 

Galvez was arrested and taken to the Gwinnett County Jail without incident. She was charged with DUI, Driving on the Wrong Side of the Roadway and Fleeing or Attempting to Elude Police. 

Yuris Garcia Galvez ,27, of Gainesville, was arrested on Jan. 12, 2025 after a Gwinnett County Police Officer performed a PIT maneuver on her vehicle that was reportedly traveling on the wrong side of the roadway.
