GAINESVILLE, Ga. — The Gainesville boys basketball team used an 11-0 second-quarter run to take control in a 65-47 win over Johns Creek at Davis-Hill Gym Tuesday.
Gainesville (12-6, 5-1 Region 7-5A) trailed 15-12 with 6:45 to go in the first half, but shots from Caden Jackson, KJ White, Brandon Nelson and Charlie Gersmehl propelled Big Red to a 23-15 lead.
Later in the second quarter, Luke Nordholz scored eight straight points, six from 3-point land, to extend Gainesville’s lead to the largest of the game, 33-20. Gainesville led 33-22 at halftime.
The Red Elephants opened the second half on a 10-2 run, led by White, Jackson and Nelson to push the lead 43-24 and finished the quarter with a 50-27 advantage.
Gersmehl led Gainesville with 15 points, White with 14, Nelson and Jackson with nine each, and Nordholz had eight.
Tatum Holmes led Johnson Creek (11-7, 1-5 Region 7-5A) with 15 points.
CHEROKEE BLUFF 72,
OCONEE COUNTY 28
The Bears (18-1, 4-0 Region 8-3A) held Oconee County to eight second-half points en route to the blowout win at home on Tuesday.
Bluff led 63-24 at the end of the third quarter.
Boston Kersh led the Bears with 14 points and four rebounds. Connor Robinson and Tyler Underwood added 13 each. Alex Brooks had eight, and Cole Brooks with seven.

MOUNTAIN VIEW 55
The Wolves won their fourth straight game, all in Region 8-6A play, and stayed perfect in the region with a dominating win at The Buford Arena Tuesday night.
Buford (13-3, 7-0 Region 8-6A) jumped out to a big 21-11 lead after the first quarter and then cruised to the victory. The Wolves led 41-25 at halftime and took a 63-39 lead into the fourth quarter
Kyle Carpenter paced Buford with 18 points. Carmelo Williams added 13 points for the Wolves.
Mountain View (4-14, 0-7 Region 8-6A) was led by 15 points from JD Kuykendal. Dream Rashed had 10 points for the Bears.
NORTH HALL 84,
CHESTATEE 72
The Trojans stayed in the top four in Region 6-3A with a win over their arch-rivals at the Lynn Cottrell Center.
Cole Hulsey paced North Hall (11-7, 4-3 Region 6-3A) with 27 points. Gunner Spain had 24 for the Trojans.
North Hall next will stay on the road at White County on Friday.
Chestatee (2-15, 1-5 Region 6-3A) will play host to Pickens on Friday.

The Warriors remained in second place in region 6-6A with a tough road win over the Raiders in Coal Mountain.
The loss dropped North Forsyth (8-10, 5-3 Region 6-6A) into a third-place tie with West Forsyth (8-11, 5-3 Region 6-6A) and snapped its 3-game win streak as well.
The Raiders will play host to Alpharetta on Friday.
