COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Mark Sears scored 27 points, Aden Holloway added 15, and No. 5 Alabama beat No. 10 Texas A&M 94-88 in the first game between top 10 teams in College Station history. The Crimson Tide (14-2, 3-0 Southeastern Conference) never trailed in winning their eighth consecutive game. Alabama snapped A&M’s nine-game win streak, the longest by the Aggies (13-3, 2-1) since the 2015-16 squad won 10 straight. Guard Zhuric Phelps led the Aggies with 24 points. Texas A&M senior guard Wade Taylor IV missed his second consecutive game with an undisclosed injury.
COLUMBIA, S.C. — Tahaad Pettiford assisted on Dylan Cardwell’s go-ahead dunk and converted two free throws with 4.4 seconds remaining as No. 2 Auburn overcame an injury to leading scorer Johni Broom and rallied to beat South Carolina 66-63. With Auburn trailing by a point with 90 seconds remaining, Pettiford fed Cardwell for a dunk to give the Tigers a 64-63 lead. Pettiford sealed the win with a pair of free throws in the final seconds and finished with 15 points. Broome had six points and three rebounds in 24 minutes before leaving with a left ankle sprain. Collin Murray-Boyles had a game-high 25 points for the Gamecocks.
However, the Tigers' Johni Broome suffered a “significant sprain” of his left ankle in the win. Tigers coach Bruce Pearl said Saturday his team’s leading scorer will have an MRI to determine the extent of the injury. Broome, a 6-foot-10, 240-pound fifth-year senior and preseason Associated Press All-American who is considered a contender for national player of the year, landed on the foot of a South Carolina defender and rolled his left ankle while going for a rebound in the second half of Auburn’s 66-63 Southeastern Conference win. He was gripping his left ankle and could not stand without assistance, requiring the help of two trainers to get to the locker room.
STARKVILLE, Miss. — Jaxson Robinson scored a season-high 27 points and No. 6 Kentucky made 16 of 32 3- pointers in a 95-90 victory over No. 14 Mississippi State on Saturday night. Robinson was 7 of 10 from 3-point range and 9 of 12 overall. Otega Oweh added 15 points for Kentucky (13-3, 2-1 Southeastern Conference) and Andrew Carr had 13. Ansley Almonor scored nine of his 11 points in the second half and Lamont Butler and Amari Williams each had 10. Williams also had 12 rebounds and six assists. Cameron Matthews led Mississippi State (14-2, 2-1) with 19 points, 10 rebounds and six steals. Josh Hubbard had 15 points and RJ Melendez added 14.
OXFORD, Miss. — Malik Dia scored 19 points, Jaemyn Brakefield added 16 and No. 23 Ole Miss beat LSU 77-65 on Saturday night. The Rebels (14-2, 3-0 Southeastern Conference) have won their first three league games for the first time in six years. Dia, a 6-foot-9 transfer center from Belmont, made 2 of 4 3-pointers and had seven rebounds and two blocks. He was coming off a 21-point, eight-rebound performance in the Rebels’ 73-66 victory at Arkansas on Wednesday night. Cam Carter led LSU (11-5, 0-3) with 16 points. Daimon Collins added 14, and Jordan Sears had 10.
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.— Alijah Martin scored 14 points and three teammates also scored in double figures as No. 8 Florida defeated Arkansas 71-63 on Saturday. Alex Condon, Will Richard and Walton Clayton Jr. scored 12 points apiece for the Gators (15-1, 2-1 Southeastern Conference), who were coming off a 73-43 win over top-ranked Tennessee on Tuesday. Adou Thiero scored nine of his 17 points from the line for Arkansas (11-5, 0-3), which started conference play 0-3 for the second straight season and for the third time in four years.
COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) — Mark Mitchell scored 19 points and Missouri defeated Vanderbilt 75-66, Missouri led all the way but an 8-0 run by Vanderbilt got the Commodores within 61-60 with 5 1/2 minutes to left in the game. The Tigers did not surrender the lead and a layup by Caleb Grill gave them a 68-63 lead with 2 1/2 minutes remaining. At 2:11, Vanderbilt's Jason Edwards made three free throws to make it 68-66 but the Commodores did not score again.Grill made three free throws of his own to make it 71-66 with 1:52 left and Mitchell’s three-point play at 1:20 made it an eight-point game. He made one of two free throws with 29 seconds left to wrap up the scoring.
