Gwin Oaks Elementary School in Lawrenceville was awarded $10,000 through the McDonald’s Golden Grants Program.

A press release from Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) said the school will use the funds to invest in English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) students.

That will be done through Pocketalk translators and other advanced technology.

“We are incredibly grateful to McDonald’s for their generosity and commitment to our students,” ESOL teacher at Gwin Oaks Elementary School Deena Pagan said. “This grant enables us to provide essential resources to bridge communication gaps and support a more inclusive learning experience.”

The Atlanta-exclusive Golden Grants program was established in 2018 and awards a $20,000, a $10,000, and 10 $1,000 grants each year.

To qualify, organizations must focus on educational initiatives that support students in grades K-12.
