BUFORD, Ga. — Leading by only one point at the end of the third quarter, the Buford girls outpaced Collins Hill 15-11 in the final period to win, 50-47, at Buford Arena on Wednesday.
Buford (12-1, 4-1 Region 8-6A) led 28-23 at halftime, but Collins Hill (5-11, 2-3 Region 8-6A) won the third quarter 11-7 to cut the Lady Wolves lead to 35-34.
Buford got a spark from Lydia Ledford, who scored 11 of her game-high 25 points in the final eight minutes to seal the win.
E'miam Fields finished with 10 points.
Kaleigh Heywood led the Eagles with 20 points.
Ben Wilcox scored 26 points in the boys' game to lead the Wolves (11-3, 4-0 Region 8-6A) past Collins Hill, 90-66, and remain atop the Region 8-6A standings. Carmelo Williams added 17, and Amare Temple chipped in 14 points.
Tyson Baumgardner led the Eagles (11-5, 3-1 Region 8-6A) with 16 points, and Austin Richards had 10.
