Gwinnett Police arrest Suwanee man for alleged theft through a car purchase

The Gwinnett County Police Department (GCPD) arrested a Suwanee man minutes after he allegedly committing a $5,000 theft involving the sale of a vehicle.

The GCPD's Facebook page reports that on Monday, January 6, officers responded to a theft report at 1625 Pleasant Hill Road in unincorporated Duluth, as the victim informed police  he was attempting to purchase a white Dodge Charger from a male suspect he met on Facebook Marketplace. The suspect reportedly took $5,000 from the victim during the transaction and fled in the vehicle.
 
Leveraging technology, analysts from the GCPD's Real-Time Crime Center used DOT and FLOCK cameras to track the suspect’s vehicle, and a K9 Officer spotted the suspect vehicle about 30 minutes later in the area of Old Norcross Road and Herrington Road
 
The suspect, 23-year old  Kobe Isaih Romain-Grant of Suwanee, was apprehended during a subsequent traffic stop without incident.
 
Officers recovered the stolen $5,000, and Romain-Grant was transported to the Gwinnett County Jail and is charged with felony theft by taking.
