The Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners approved their 2025 budget on Tuesday.

The budget was proposed in November and after public hearings and input from citizens through the month of December, the budget passed at $2.67-billion.

The budget consists of $2.11-billion in operating budget and $555-million for capital improvements, which includes Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) funds.

Some key points in the budget include the creation of the Parks and Recreation Department, which was previously part of the Department of Community Services.

Also, six employees were added along with vehicles and equipment for the police department.

Despite the denial of Transportation SPLOST (TSPLOST) by the voters in November, the budget also focuses on added staffing to address growing transportation infrastructure and to improve traffic flow throughout the county.

New software for their E911 call center and disinfection systems at Lanier and Shoal Creek Filter Plants were also included.
