9th District U.S. Congressman Andrew Clyde spoke Thursday morning on WDUN's "The Martha Zoller Show" after a failed effort by House Republicans Wednesday evening to pass a funding bill as Congress tries to avoid a government shutdown.
Clyde defended the bill and House Speaker Mike Johnson's (R-LA) efforts to pass it.
"You miss 100% of the shots you don't take," Clyde said. "I really had hoped that we would get all the Republicans on board and that we would pass that...it would have done great things to protect our election integrity in going a long way to ensure non-citizens are stripped from the voter roles and we would have pushed (Fiscal Year) 2025 into Republican territory where we would potentially have a Republican House, Senate and presidency."
Clyde said he would not vote for a continuing resolution coming from the Democrat-controlled Senate.
