UPDATE: Thursday, September 5, 2024 - 9:45 a.m.
Hall County Sheriff's investigators are adding over 160 counts of sexual exploitation of children charges against a recently arrested Lula man, already facing similar charges.
Hall County officials say 62-year-old Michael Reid Perkins is being held without bond today after his initial arrest in early-August for six counts of exploiting children through images and videos found on electronic devices found at Perkins' River Station Drive home. A press release Thursday says further forensic processing of electronic devices seized from his residence has uncovered more of the explicit images.
Investigators launched their investigation in June, after receiving the initial cybertip in the case from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). HCSO received assistance in the investigation from the Georgia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC).

Original Story: August 1, 2024
A Lula man was charged with six counts of sexual exploitation of children in an ongoing investigation that began in June.
The Hall County Sheriff’s Office in partnership with the Georgia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, arrested Michael Reid Perkins, 62, on August 1 after the execution of a search warrant at his home on River Station Drive. During the search, investigators reportedly seized multiple electronic devices from the residence.
Preliminary details into the investigation showed Perkins allegedly downloaded at least six files of child sexual abuse material between Dec. 2023 and the time of his arrest.
The investigation began after the agency received a cybertip in the case from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Additional charges may be possible pending forensic processing of the seized electronics and further investigation.
Perkins remained in the Hall County Jail without bond.
