WINDER, Ga. – East Forsyth's D.J. Haskell returned a kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown just after the Broncos fell behind in the fourth quarter as they improved to 3-0 with a 34-30 win over Winder-Barrow Thursday night.
The Broncos forced the Bulldoggs to jump offsides on fourth and short late in the game to ice the game and remain unbeaten.
Troy Hoover got it started for East Forsyth with a 9-yard touchdown on the opening drive, but Winder-Barrow answered on the ensuing drive. A blocked PAT made the score 7-6.
Brock Szakacs found Gus Martin on the Broncos' next drive for a 26-yard touchdown pass to extend the lead to eight after the first quarter. East Forsyth extended its lead to 21-9 on Hoover's second touchdown run of the night, this time from one yard out.
The Bulldoggs scored twice before halftime to take a 22-21 lead into the locker room, but the Broncos came out of the break by getting a stop and marching down the field, capped off by a Chase Rhoads 14-yard score to retake the lead, 27-22.
Winder-Barrow scored on a fourth down play late and converted the two-point conversion before Haskell's special teams touchdown.
Szakacs finished the night 12-for-14 for 204 yards and his two touchdown passes, while Haskell finished the night with 78 rushing yards in addition to his big kick return.
East Forsyth will play host to Chestatee next Friday night as they look to get to 4-0 on the season.
