The Towns County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents of a scam call impersonating the sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s office said they have received multiple reports from citizens claiming they received a call with the caller ID listed as “Towns County Sheriff’s Office.”

The scammer tells the victim they have a warrant for their arrest and they must pay over the phone to avoid being arrested.

The sheriff’s office said they would never call residents to ask for payments over the phone.

Those who may receive this call should report it to the sheriff’s office.
