CHATSWORTH, Ga. — Towns County snapped a 12-game losing streak with an impressive 42-14 win over Murray County on Saturday to open the 2024 season.
The game was postponed to Saturday due to the lightning and rain that rolled through Georgia on Friday night. The streak for the Indians went back to a 20-8 win over Warren County on Oct. 21, 2022.
Towns County (1-0) led 28-0 at halftime and then cruised in the second half behind a tenacious defense. The Indians picked off four passes and never let the Murray offense get going .
Dustin Barrett had three rushing TDs and Tucker Engert added a pair of scores on the ground as well. Grayson Youngblood caught one touchdown pass.
The Indians will play host to Riverside Prep on Friday in Hiawassee.
