A United States Postal Services carrier was arrested in Gwinnett County after investigators allegedly discovered over 200 pieces of stolen mail and illegal drugs in his home and vehicle.
The USPS Inspector General contacted the Gwinnett County Police Department on July 31 regarding carrier Marcus Gregory after receiving several complaints filed by victims claiming they had not received their mail. Undercover officers began investigating Gregory the same day, and reportedly found him dumping mail in the woods near Williams Farm Road and Highway 316.
After Gregory allegedly dumped the mail, officers then saw him use illegal drugs in his work vehicle, according to a release from GCPD. Officers then pulled Gregory over and placed him under arrest. While searching the work vehicle, officers discovered more illegal drugs and a handgun.
A search of his personal vehicle reportedly led investigators to discovering an additional 215 pieces of stolen mail.
Officers served a search warrant of Gregory’s home on August 3rd and found more stolen mail.
Gregory was charged with DUI drugs, possession of a schedule I narcotic, possession of a firearm during a crime, theft of stolen mail, theft by taking, and obstruction. In total, Gregory was charged with 51 felony warrants and 9 misdemeanor warrants.
