The Sautee Nacoochee Center was recently awarded an Arts Education Program Grant and a Bridge Grant from Georgia Council for the Arts for fiscal year 2025.
The Arts Education Program Grant supports arts programs for K-12 students and also helps fund programs from visual arts to music or theater, to dance and creative writing.
More than $540,000 dollars in funding will be given to 75 entities in 22 counties.
“The Arts Education Program Grant will allow SNC to offer Celebrate the Arts! again in 2025. Celebrate the Arts! is an arts-infused, disability awareness field trip for students in White County schools,” said Mel Whitehead, executive director of the Sautee Nacoochee Center.
The Bridge Grant provides funding for operating support to nonprofit arts organizations, many of which were negatively affected by COVID-19.
Bridge Grants are available for eligible operating expenses like rent, utilities, programming expenses, and marketing.
Over $2.6 Million dollars in funding will be dispersed across 204 entities in 44 counties.
Arts education programs receiving funding include afterschool and summer arts programs, arts integration, STEAM programs and teaching artist residencies.
“These grant dollars are vital funding that will allow for the continued development of the creative workforce that employers in Georgia are seeking,” said Georgia Council for the Arts Director Tina Lilly. “Georgia Council for the Arts is excited to help our arts organizations continue to foster economic and cultural vitality in their communities.”
Funding for these grants is provided through appropriations from the Georgia General Assembly and the National Endowment for the Arts.
