Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services were dispatched to two separate house fires on Tuesday.

The first house fire occurred at approximately 1:19 p.m. at the 4800 block of Bill Cheek Road in Auburn.

The occupants inside the house were notified of the fire by their Ring Security System initially which called the occupants to confirm there was a fire in the garage.

All persons and pets inside were able to escape the home safely and firefighters arrived on the scene to quickly extinguish the fire without incident.

The cause of that fire is still undetermined but originated in the garage.

A short time later at approximately 5:15 p.m. a second house fire happened at the 200 block of Garden Walk Way in Loganville.

The 911 caller stated they heard a loud boom after a lightning strike and smelled smoke shortly thereafter.

Firefighters arrived on the scene of a house fire with flames coming from the garage.

No one was home at the time of the fire and the flames were extinguished by fire crews on the scene.

Firefighters determined the garage caught fire due to the lightning strike.
