The Cornelia Downtown Development Authority awarded a grant to BSG Coffee and Cafe in the downtown district for new signage.
Cornelia’s sign grant applications aim to encourage growth and revitalization to the city’s downtown area. The cafe received $414.83 from the DDA.
In order to qualify for the grant, the business or property owner has to get the project approved by the Cornelia Downtown Development Board prior to any work being done. Once approved, the project must be completed within 120 days. Upon completion, the Board will review all receipts and results of work prior to issuing grant monies. The sign grant caps at $500.00.
The implementation of the sign grant program reportedly helps Cornelia Main Street meet the annual standards of downtown revitalization efforts that are required to remain accredited as a Georgia and National Main Street program. The program is funded solely through donations, scholarships and fundraising.
