The Georgia Association of Broadcasters hosted a road show Wednesday afternoon at The Boathouse at Lake Lanier Olympic Park. The program was part of a series of shows taking place around the state in celebration of the organization's 90th anniversary.
Wednesday's program recognized the contribution of local radio stations in the North Georgia area. Local officials also spoke, emphasizing the role of broadcasters in keeping the community informed. The program was hosted by Bill Maine, executive vice president and general manager for WDUN and Joel Williams, morning show host on WCON. Maine is also the chairman of the GAB board.
The GAB- of which WDUN is a member- boasts a membership comprised of more than 500 radio and television broadcasters who reach more than 95 percent of Georgia’s population every week, per the organization's website. The primary purpose of the GAB is to provide technical, regulatory, and advocacy support to members.
The organization also provides scholarships and training for students aiming to break into the industry.
More about the GAB is on their website here.
