Police in Gainesville have arrested a local homeless man on two counts of rape following an alleged acquaintance's claims of twice being attacked.

Gainesville Police Lieutenant Kevin Holbrook reported that they arrested 48-year old Dexter ONeal Foster this week on two counts of rape. Lt. Holbrook says the unidentified female victim reported on June 7th, 2024 that Foster raped her on separate occasions June 3rd and June 4th.

Both the victim and Foster are reported as homeless, and met in the 700 block of Auburn Avenue in Gainesville. Lt. Holbrook says warrants were recently obtained by Gainesville Police investigators and Foster was arrested without incident Wednesday afternoon.

Foster was booked Wednesday evening in the Hall County jail and remained held in custody, with no further details available as of this report.
