New addition to the North Georgia Wildlife Park and Safari family is born

A northeast Georgia animal preserve has recently received a new addition to their family of animals--an African Black-Footed penguin chick!

North Georgia Wildlife and Safari Park has announced this week the hatching of the critically endangered African black-footed penguin.  A press release from the Cleveland-based safari park says the little one hatched on May 29th to first time parents Oyster (pictured, above) and Mark.

The park's officials say penguin parents work together on raising their chicks from feeding to making sure the baby stays warm enough until they can regulate their own body temperature.

North Georgia Wildlife and Safari Park continues to express how excited they are to watch the penguin chick grow and become an amazing ambassador. Park officials remind visitors that while the young chick still needs time to grow before the public can see it, there are other penguins on display, and visitors can learn even more about the penguins through their Penguin Experience display.
