Gainesville police responded to a call about a runaway juvenile near Buenavista Circle Friday night, according to a Facebook post from the Gainesville Police Department Monday afternoon.

The caller told authorities that her 12-year-old sister ran away from home, leaving a note behind. Neighbors saw the minor walking down the road, which is when police decided to open an investigation.

Family members stated on scene of the investigation they had located the child on Atlanta Highway and returned her home.

It was at this point the juvenile made claims that she was abducted from her home while in the garage, saying that someone came from behind and pulled her into a vehicle.

The 12-year-old also claimed that the man stopped at a store, but could not remember what he got.

Police immediately began to search the area, working with the Hall County Sheriff's Office to find any evidence of the kidnapper.

After two days, investigators still have not been able to find any evidence to back up the abduction claims and it remains an active investigation.

Authorities have used Mental Health Clinicians from the police department to conduct a secondary interview on the girl and they will continue to provide support to the girl and her family.
