The Humane Society of Northeast Georgia announced Monday that Allison Mayfield has left the position of CEO.

“After several years of service with the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia, Allison Mayfield is leaving the Humane Society,” Ed Schrader, chairman of the board of directors of HSNEGA said in an email. “Her commitment to our mission of helping animals and people live better together has been an inspiration.”

Schrader said Juan Cueto will serve as Interim CEO.

"[The Board of Directors] asked me if I would be able to step up and be the interim CEO," Cueto said. "I said, I would love to, I love this organization. I love the mission of this organization. So I was pleased to step into this role."

Cueto brings over 30 years of experience in the nonprofit sector. He previously served as the CEO of the Atlanta Hospital Hospitality House and CEO of the Alliance for Florida's National Parks.

Cueto said he is unsure if there will be a search for a new CEO but would happily fill the full-time CEO role if asked to do so.

"If the board decides that I have the capacity, and the drive to be able to take this organization to the next level. I'm more than happy to continue to be the CEO for this organization."

According to Schrader, the Alliance for Florida’s National Parks completed its first capital campaign and raised the most funds in the organization's 20-year history under Cueto’s leadership.

Cueto also managed three university campaigns, ranging from $500 million to $750 million.

“With Juan at the helm, we are confident that the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia will continue to thrive and grow,” Schrader said.
