Two people are facing charges after an altercation at a homeless camp in Gainesville Tuesday left multiple people injured.
Hall County Sheriff's Office Spokesman Derreck Booth said deputies were called to the scene on Georgia Avenue near the Queen City Parkway bridge around 3 p.m. Investigators said two people approached a male victim and the three got into a verbal altercation that turned physical.
The two suspects allegedly brandished handguns at the victim, who was hit in the head by one of the guns as well as with a piece of wood. One of the suspects was also reportedly stabbed multiple times during the incident.
The injured suspect, identified as Dexter Barnard Pulliam, age 53, was hospitalized with stab wounds. Warrants have been taken for his arrest on charges of aggravated assault and battery. Booth said Pulliam lives in the camp and will be taken to the Hall County Jail when he is released from the hospital.
The second suspect, Damond Jarquice Cantrell, age 38 of Sautee-Nacoochee, was tracked to an address on McConnell Drive and arrested there on one count of aggravated assault. Authorities also learned he had an outstanding warrant from the state of Nevada.
The case remains under investigation.
