Memorial Day weekend is now complete, and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources has issued its report on incidents on state waterways, including Lake Lanier.

The report listed two incidents on Lanier over the weekend, with one happening Sunday night and the other Monday night. The first was a collision between two personal watercraft near Lake Lanier Park in Gwinnett County, while the second was a person falling off a personal watercraft and then injuring their foot while climbing back into a boat.

More than a dozen boating under the influence arrests were made on Lake Lanier over the weekend, representing more than half of the BUIs across the state. Twenty-nine BUIs were reported statewide, with 15 of those on Lanier.

Elsewhere in Georgia, there were two drownings reported, one in the Albany area and one near Brunswick. There was also one other boating incident reported on Lake Allatoona near Acworth when a personal watercraft jumped a wake and overturned onto its two riders.

The Memorial Day weekend reporting period by the DNR ran from Friday through Monday.
