Two people were killed and two were severely injured Sunday afternoon after a wreck at Buford Highway and South Peachtree Street just outside Norcross.
Gwinnett County Police officials said officers responded to the scene just after 1:30 p.m.
A preliminary investigation found the driver of a red Volvo XC60 attempted to turn right from South Peachtree Street onto Buford Highway, turning in front of a black Toyota Sienna, causing a collision.
Officers requested the Accident Investigation Unit due to the seriousness of the injuries.
Units with Gwinnett County Fire transported four people to a local hospital with two in critical condition.
The driver and passenger of the Volvo both died at the hospital. The driver was identified as Jill Swenson, 73, and the passenger William Brown, 74 both of Norcross.
The driver and the passenger of the Toyota remained at the hospital for further treatment of their injuries.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
